I had to make, for several shots, bubbles’ formations from 2 arc. I wrote a tool to automate the formation of the bubbles, from 2 previously tracked 3D curves. You select the points ( in this video the cluster centers that have been tracked ) , and the script basically creates a disc, which the same number of divisions than the curves had points, with two more points between the curves extreme ones (to add more control to the final look). You only have to specify in the script the selection number of the first curve last point, then the scripts creates nulls ( as bones ) and curves to rig the disc, as well as a few expressions to control the overall shape by some custom parameter.
I started with bones until i realized that the problem i had was the bones constraints. So i decide to use nulls, choosing and adding which constraint i want. I scripted a little tool which creates for each curve point a null, used as a bone, which had transforms’ expressions controlled by a custom parameter, giving us full control of the shape and animation…
Here is a video from a script i wrote in order to modify the y position of the feet and COG of a character, previously animated on a ground plane, to match a non-planar ground that you can interactively modify… The script analyze the y animation and offset it to match the ground shape.
